FOOD RECALL: VOLUNTARY CLASS II - Elevated Levels of Cadmium
This is to inform you of a product recall involving: FLAV-R-PAC, IQF, Chopped Spinach, 6/32oz; UPC: 0 48800 30238 2 and Production/ Lot: BEST BY FEB 2015 / 5F3 1248 19 HH: MM (411 cases). No other lot numbers are involved.
The recall has been initiated due to the presence of elevated levels of the heavy metal cadmium based on recent surveillance testing by the Food and Drug Administration. Use of, or consumption of this product presents a potential moderate or remote health risk.
There are no regulatory limits or tolerances established, for cadmium in foods; sample results that exceed normal concentrations are brought to the attention of CFSAN, who conducts an assessment of potential health hazards from the quantity of the element found based on food consumption of the product.
